Halau O ‘Aulani presents its 2010 ho’ike, The Wonderful World of Aloha, featuring music and dances of Hawai’i and Samoa. Event begins at 12:30 p.m. with pre-show Hawaiian music, local hors d’oeuvres, raffle and silent auction. Performance at 2:00 p.m. Thomas Jefferson Theatre, 125 S. Old Glebe Rd., Arlington, VA 22204.   

Tickets: Early Bird* $20/ adult; $15 children 3-17, students with ID and seniors 65 and older. *Reserved seating for tickets purchased by March 1 and a chance to win $200 gift card (must be at least 18 years old). ʻAha Hula Leʻa Workshops
Kumu Hula Greg Lontayao will be conducting a series of 4 hula workshops.
May 15th - Hula Kahiko for Beginners and Advanced Students.
Jun 19th - Hula Kahiko for Advanced Students only.
Jul 17th - Hula 'Auana for Beginners and Advanced Students
Aug 21st - Hula 'Auana for Advanced Students only.
Fee: $30.00 per workshop or $100.00 for all four.

*Advanced students must have at least 2 years hula exp.

The Kamanawa Foundation presents the 9th annual Kaua`i Polynesian Festival on Memorial Day weekend May 27-30, 2010 at the Vidinha Stadium soccer field on Kapule Highway (Lihu`e).  The Kaua`i Polynesian Festival kicks off with a Grand Polynesian Lu`au Celebration and fashion show at the Grand Hyatt Kaua`i Resort & Spa at 5 p.m. on May 27.  Cost to attend is $85/person for premier seating, $65/person for general seating, and $600 for reserved table of 10.  Join us on May 28-30 from 11:30 a.m. through the evening each day for Tahitian, Maori, Samoan and Hawaiian entertainment, Polynesian arts and crafts, solo and group dance competitions, a Polynesian Experience, food booths, workshops, and much more.  All Kaua`i residents and visitors are welcome.  Entrance fee is $25 for three days or $10 per day.  Children below the age of 5 are free.  For more information, contact Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza at (808) 335-6466,

Kumu Hula Michael Pili Pang and Halau Hula Ka No’eau

Michael Pili Pang was born in Honolulu and danced with Maiki Aiu

Lake and Mae Kamamalu Klein. He was the first kumu hula to earn a

Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Hawai’i focusing his thesis studies on hula. He is the founder of Hawaiian Arts Ensemble. (www.artofhula.com)

  All hula dancers are invited to participate in this exciting workshop. If you are part of a halau, fine. And if, not that is fine also! Please make sure you have a good understanding of the basic hula steps.   

The workshop will be held at the North Kirkland Community Center,

12421 103rd Ave. NE. Kirkland, WA  

Doors open at 10:00am, Class starts at 10:30am

Class Fee $50 – Registration must be in advance by May 25th
