Protocol......These are rules of Hawaiian culture that dictates prescribed behavior and traditional hierarchy in hula halau. There are protocols for every aspect of life, and these traditions must be maintained to keep our cultural heritage. Emphasis is stressed to maintain these traditions in our contemporary times, if not, dance styles, crafts, songs, costumes, culture, and even the way we respect one another will be lost. Most importantly, respect for one another in and outside of hula halau is proper protocol.
