Something To Think About...
Hula 'auana, in its original sense, are those chants and dances that are learned and danced with no religious obligations and restrictions. Hula 'auana is in contrast to hula kuahu, also referred to as "hula kapu." Hula kuahu, as the term implies, is hula learned in the presence of a kuahu or "alter" with all its custodial and obligatory duties.
